Located 500m from the estate, surrounded by our apricot and olive orchards, Saint-Trophime will offer you the most breathtaking panoramic view of the village. An idyllic spot for a sunset walk, go and admire the yellow/orange hues reflecting on the limestone walls of the valley. Take advantage of the location for a picnic, to admire, or to reflect.

Depending on availability, the chapel may be open for visits or contemplation.

The History

The Saint-Trophime chapel overlooks the Ouvèze Valley. Dedicated to the first bishop of Arles, Saint-Trophime, its origin dates back to an ancient period, mentioned as early as the 14th century. Over the centuries, it has been restored, destroyed, and rebuilt during the Wars of Religion, and housed a hermit in the 17th century. In 2008-2009, a complete restoration was undertaken. This chapel has also been a site of pilgrimages since the 18th century, and these traditions still endure today, with annual gatherings, notably on Whit Monday. A fascinating testament to the religious and historical heritage of the region, the Saint-Trophime chapel continues to attract visitors and devotees.

The Domain, spanning over six generations, was born in the 19th century. The first generations of farmer-breeders settled on the banks of the Rieuchaux.

The surname AUMAGE, derived from Old French and Provençal dialect, signifies someone who has received, notably, lands given by the local Baron of Mévouillon. This act, called ‘hommage’ (homage), has evolved over time and linguistic changes into its current form.
